Series of 4 half-hour private music lessons in the study of guitar, piano, bass, trumpet, ukulele, or drums
Eric Lechner (P ‘26), AKA Professor Sludge, offers a series of music lessons for music lovers of all ages and levels.
Where: At your place! Professor Sludge is now doing all house-call lessons (Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley, San Leandro)! Professor Sludge is also available for Zoom lessons for out-of-towners and those who prefer the screen!
When: At a mutually agreed upon time. Professor Sludge is available seven days a week. Gift certificate expires two years from date of issue, 4/25/26; (exp. 4/25/28)
Who: Professor Sludge, a.k.a. Eric Lenchner, has been a Bay Area music teacher since 1990. He gives one-on-one music lessons in the study of electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano, trumpet, ukulele, drums, Hawaiian lap steel guitar, dobro, and slide/bottleneck guitar. He plays and teaches many styles of music: rock ’n’ roll, blues, country, jazz, alternative, folk, classical, funk, reggae, punk rock, surf, rockabilly… the list goes on!
Lenchner/Sludge is also a veteran of many Bay Area bands: The Readymades (punk/new wave), The Ultras (surf & instrumental), The Muscletones (hard rock), Orquestra Limbo (salsa), Bing’s Swingin’ Thing (jazz, R&B), Lost Weekend (country) and many others.
As Professor Sludge, Lenchner says his mission is to emphasize the FUN of playing a musical instrument. He often takes a song-oriented approach, but also specializes in music theory and improvisation.
