Spanish 5 and 6 are advanced-level courses designed for students who have achieved a high degree of proficiency and wish to continue refining their linguistic and cultural competence. The courses are conducted entirely in Spanish and emphasizes authentic communication, critical thinking, and a deep exploration of the Spanish-speaking world through literature, film, media, and contemporary issues.

Students engage with a variety of authentic texts—from classic and modern short stories to essays, poetry, music, and current events—to develop a richer command of vocabulary and more nuanced grammatical control. Through discussions, debates, and analytical writing, students express complex ideas, form and defend arguments, and interpret diverse cultural perspectives with sophistication and accuracy.

A central goal of Spanish 5 and Spanish 6 is to help students connect language learning with global awareness. Projects and assessments emphasize interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational skills, allowing students to use Spanish as a tool for real-world communication and cultural understanding.

By the end of these courses, students are able to communicate with confidence, precision, and cultural sensitivity across a wide range of topics, preparing them for advanced study, travel, or professional use of the Spanish language beyond the classroom.
