William has been the Director of Maybeck High School since May of 2014. Previous to Maybeck, he was the director of New Roads High School in Los Angeles and the director of a Bard Master’s in Teaching Program in the Central Valley, where he helped train teachers to work in rural and underserved communities. More recently he was the middle school head of Black Pine Circle. He is continuing his work with Bard College as the West Coast Coordinator of the Institute of Writing and Thinking, working with teachers to help them create writing-based classrooms. William started his career in education as a chaplain and English teacher and he continues to teach literature and advanced electives at Maybeck. He is also a writer, a hiker, a swimmer and a cook.
