International Students

We  encourage international students to apply to Maybeck High School. Over the years, we have had students from all over the world enrich the cultural diversity of our school from places such as Albania, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, Germany, Israel, Italy, Korea, Norway, Senegal, Spain, Turkmenistan, and Vietnam. International students study in the same classes as local students.

Important: English Requirement

A student applying to Maybeck High School must possess effective English listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills in order to fully communicate with Maybeck students, teachers, and staff. Maybeck does not have an ESL (English as a Second Language) program, therefore, we require a 109-112 minimum TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) test score or the comparable Duolingo score of 140.

I-20 Form

Maybeck High School is authorized to issue I-20 forms to facilitate the student visa process. In order for Maybeck to issue the I-20 Form, which the student will take to the United States Embassy in their home country to apply for the F1 Student Visa, the following steps and information must be completed:

  • apply to Maybeck through Ravenna

  • submit $150 international application fee

  • TOEFL (minimum 109-112) or Duolingo English Test (minimum 140) scores

  • photocopy of student's passport photo page

  • translated vaccination records

  • provide a bank statement indicating sufficient funds to cover tuition costs

  • interview (you will be contacted by the school)

As soon as all of the above information and documents are fully completed and received by Maybeck, we will then contact the student to arrange for a Zoom interview, which consists of two teachers conducting a brief 20-minute interview with the student.

We will notify the student of their acceptance to Maybeck. Once you have indicated your acceptance of our offer, we will issue the I-20 Form as soon as the deposit is paid to our bank account.

Flexible Tuition Program

Our desire is that families who are committed to the philosophy and values of Maybeck High School are able to attend. Because of that, we are offering a personalized approach to tuition setting through a Flexible Tuition model. Your tuition will be set based on your family’s income and expenses, determined through a financial application process administered by School and Student Services (SSS). Parents requesting flexible tuition consideration are asked to complete a confidential application. Maybeck dedicates 28% of our operating budget to the Flexible Tuition program.

Maybeck encourages families to apply for the program if they think they may qualify. An admissions offer for each student is not contingent on the family’s ability to pay.
