At Maybeck, we pride ourselves in the relationships we cultivate with our students during their time at the school. Those connections begin the moment you walk through the door for an Open House and strengthen throughout the admissions process. From the shadow visit to the interview, each trip to Maybeck gives prospective families a chance to see how much we value our tight-knit community, while welcoming in new students with open arms.

By the time a student is enrolled at Maybeck, they already feel they belong here, that they have found their place. Our small, intimate classrooms, shared intellectual responsibility, all-school activities, and personalized college search process will reiterate how important these close connections are to both students and staff alike. If you pull anyone aside and ask what made them choose Maybeck, most will say the strong relationships that form between the people here. The clearest example of that happens at graduation each year. The personal speeches made by staff members to honor every graduate are a culmination of the deep connections formed over the years.

On behalf of the Maybeck staff, we thank you for your interest in our school and look forward to connecting with your family. I am available by phone or email to answer any questions you may have about our admissions process, financial aid, or our college preparatory academic program.

How to Apply

At Maybeck we use an online system, Rediker, that will allow you to RSVP for multiple events and apply online. To sign up for events (open house, student shadow visit, parent visit, and to submit an application) you will need to create a username and password on our login page. Please take some time to read the event descriptions offered this admissions season before creating an account.

Please read the prompts carefully and be sure to click the “next” button and not the “submit” button until you have completed all the fields on the forms. With events that offer multiple dates, please make sure you choose a date that is highlighted on the calendar. If it is not highlighted, it is no longer available.

Maybeck joins many independent schools in the San Francisco Bay Area by sharing common recommendation forms and deadlines. We also agree to abide by the Principles of Good Practice to better streamline the admission process across independent schools.

Student Shadow Visits are a great way for prospective students to get a sense of what makes Maybeck so great!

Please take a moment to read this section carefully before logging in to sign up for a Student Visit Day (Shadow Day).

During the 2018-19 Admissions Season, we are pleased to offer Student Visit Days on specific dates and times between October 2 through December 10. To make the best use of our rotating block schedule and to provide a variety of options for your student/child, we have 4 separate visit day forms created in our online system.

All student visitors will be hosted by a current a student, attend two classes, and will meet with the Admissions Director and other administrators on campus. Depending on the visit day and time, a prospective student might also attend an advisory meeting. Please note: meals or snacks will not be provided. Please plan accordingly.

Sign-Up dates for Shadow Days will be published at the beginning of the school year.

Please sign up for ONE visit date only. If you need to reschedule due to a conflict, please remember to cancel your original visit date and select a different available date/form.

Submitting an Application

Access to the online application is now available through our online system!

Recommendation Forms, Grade Reports and Transcript Request Form

Maybeck requires recommendations from the applicant’s current teachers and principals or counselors. Downloadable PDF’s of these forms are available below. Please submit these forms to your current teachers and current school in advance to provide plenty of lead time for them to complete. Recommendation forms should be emailed back to Maybeck at admissions@maybeckhs.org. Please check the list below to see your options for submitting grades/transcripts.

While Maybeck does not require any standardized test scores (such as the ISEE or SSAT), you are welcome to submit a copy of your test results to supplement your application.

  • To submit official ISEE scores, please log into your ERB parent portal and submit scores to Maybeck (ISEE school code: 57135).

  • To submit official SSAT scores, please log into your EMA parent portal and submit scores to Maybeck (SSAT school code: 4951).

Each applicant is strongly encouraged to take part in a 15-20 minute interview with one or two of our staff members. This is a conversation and an informal way for us to get to know your child a little better and see a side of their personality that might not be reflected in grades or transcripts. Parents do not attend the interview, but may wait in our reception area.

Sign-Up dates for interviewing will be published at the beginning of the year

Please sign up for ONE interview time slot only. If you need to reschedule due to conflict, please remember to cancel your original interview date and time and select a different available date/form.
