Francisco (aka Paco) Montfort is a native of Majorca, Spain, and has devoted most of his life to teaching Spanish.  He came to the United States to pursue his undergraduate education, and earned a B.A. in Spanish from San Francisco State University in 1977.  In 1981 he earned an M.A. from UC Berkeley in Spanish literature with an emphasis in linguistics.  After completing his graduate work, Paco continued to teach Spanish at Cal for several years.  He has also taught at UC Extension, SF State, Cal State East Bay (formerly Hayward), Contra Costa College, and Laney College, where he has worked for 15 years and continues to teach evening courses.  Paco started teaching at Maybeck in 2000 and teaches all levels of Spanish.  He brings to his classes the expertise of a native speaker who is particularly interested in the various modalities of language in the Spanish-speaking world.  Paco’s interests also include travel, history, film, the environment, and the outdoors.
