Anne was born, raised, and educated in France. At fourteen, she took the first of many trips to Great Britain. She received a BA and an MA in English from the University of Bordeaux and spent a year in London as a French assistant. She then got a Single Subject Teaching Credential from the Ministry of Education in Paris and taught English in a middle school near Paris for a few years.
Anne found the study of language endlessly fascinating, and her focus was definitely on the English-speaking world. She spent her summers traveling to Canada and the US, with a few detours through European countries. Her request for a one-year sabbatical from teaching was accepted, and she never returned to France, getting married to an American citizen and settling in San Francisco instead.
In the late 80s, Anne had her coursework and credentials analyzed at the Department of Education in Sacramento and was given a California teaching credential to teach English. She later got a credential to teach French, as well as an MA in French.
In the fall of 1988, she found her way to Maybeck to sub in two classes for a semester, and was hired full time the following year. And apart for a year spent in France with her children and a recent semester on sabbatical, she has been here ever since.
