Over the course of their years at Maybeck, our college counselor guides students through the steps they need to take to prepare for and apply to college. Students and their parents attend a College Night in the spring of the sophomore year to learn about how to begin the college search process and how to ensure that the student will be college-ready. There is another College Night for juniors the following year, after which the application process begins in earnest. In the spring of their junior year, students meet with the college counselor both individually and with their families to discuss their goals and choose which colleges to apply to. In addition, the school offers an SAT preparation course for juniors. During the senior year, the college counselor guides students and their families through the application process: helping students develop timelines for completing their applications, showing them how to request letters of recommendation, giving feedback on essay drafts, conducting mock interviews, and helping families navigate the financial aid application process. |
